About WikiQis
WikiQis looks at why games stay with us, separating game design from nostalgia, changing expectations and the people around play.
WikiQis is an English-language publication about the games people remember and the circumstances that made them matter. We write for adults who remember a console in the living room, a release they waited for or a game that once felt entirely new.
The question behind the stories
“Why did gaming feel so much better back then?” can have more than one honest answer. A game may have made a distinctive design choice. You may have encountered its kind of play for the first time. Friends, siblings or a particular room may be inseparable from the memory. Your time and expectations may be different now.
WikiQis examines those explanations together. It does not treat nostalgia as proof that older games were objectively better, and it does not treat modern convenience or technical power as proof that newer games are better.
What you will find
Stories use named games, official manuals and developer material where those sources help explain an observable feature. Research on gaming memories, social play and time use supports broader claims within the limits of the population and method studied.
Each article includes something you can do with the question: replay under two conditions, reconstruct a group's house rules, sketch a remembered level or compare the steps required to begin two games. These activities organize your own observations; they are not scientific tests or promises that a past feeling will return.
How the publication is made
The WikiQis editorial team uses AI tools to help organize research, draft articles and create editorial illustrations. Sources are linked beside the claims they support and listed with the date they were opened. Illustrations evoke a game or play setting; they are not official screenshots, documentary photographs or evidence of hands-on testing.
The editorial policy explains sourcing, dates, corrections and independent review. WikiQis does not claim personal memories, product testing, developer access or human specialist approval that has not taken place.
